like an old friend
calling you to come inside.
'Don't be afraid'
The wind whispers
as you chase it from
room to room
like a game of hide and seek.
They will never find you
if you don't want to be found.
What were they so fearful of?
Every creaking floor,
branches scrapping the
broken window planes
sounds familiar and welcoming.
Their eyes gather in the gloaming darkness.
All around is dust and webs
The street lights burnt out
years ago.
The cold seeps into your bones
And you fade away.
Voices of the dead crowed
